The stolen computers, all Apple MacBooks, are worth an estimated $75,000, said Cold Spring Principal Bryan McCabe.
A custodian discovered the laptops missing around 5 a.m. yesterday morning. McCabe said the custodian realized things were amiss after noticing a garbage can had been used to prop open a classroom door.
Inside the classroom, McCabe said a lock box used to store the computers had been broken into.
“They’re stored in a big, heavy-duty cart that’s padlocked at night,” McCabe said of the laptops. “It looks like these guys used a bolt cutter to break open the lock.”
definately inside job, just talked to my mom who is the librarian at cold springs. and part of the technology initiative at that school, she said it was definately someone that knew they were there.
I cant go into the details right now, just because i dont want to cause any problems with the investigation. but they have evidence to go on, good evidence.
so im posting this because i want to ask anyone, here(SB) or LA or surrounding areas. if you hear of a large volume of 13in white unibody macbooks being sold off, craigslist, ebay, etc. let me know.
last remaining laptops are now locked in an ALARMED building.
